84% of Americans Believe we Must Beat China to 5G

5G Action Now — a new advocacy organization established to fight for the rapid deployment of 5G technology in the United States — just released a new poll surveying Americans’ attitudes towards 5G, the race against China to deploy 5G, and the economic impact 5G will have in America.

The poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, surveyed 1200 registered voters across the country and found that nearly 80% of those surveyed are excited about what 5G can do for their lives and the American economy overall.

Further, 84% of those polled believe that it is crucial that we win the race against China to deploy 5G.

Mike Rogers, the Chairman of 5G Action Now and Former Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee, stated:

“Getting 5G right is critical for our country’s national and economic security. Successfully rolling out nationwide 5G will spur innovation and growth, and create new jobs and industries. This poll highlights that Americans understand what 5G means for them and just how critical it is that we, and not China, define the 5G future. Rolling out 5G with a public C-band auction this year, as proposed by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, is a critical step to defining that future.”

These poll results make it clear — Americans understand that 5G is a crucial part of the future of American national security and economic prosperity. A clear majority know that it is absolutely critical that America builds the 5G future, not China.

About 5G Action Now

5G Action Now was founded to establish the United States as the worldwide leader in 5G. Our goal is to elevate the conversation regarding American national security and the economic benefits of winning the 5G innovation and deployment battle against China. 5G will spur economic growth in rural America, create an environment for technological expansion, and put the U.S. on strong national security footing for generations to come.

5G Action Now supports the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) goal of a 2020 C-band auction. Additionally, we support Members of Congress of both parties working together with the federal government to win the 5G race against China.
