NEW 5G ACTION NOW POLL IN LOUISIANA FINDS OVERWHELMING SUPPORT FOR THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S PLAN FOR 5G DEPLOYMENT

Overview –

On behalf of 5G Action Now, Public Opinion Strategies completed a survey of 500 registered voters in Louisiana. Two hundred and fifty respondents were contacted via landline and 250 via cell phone.

The survey was conducted February 14-16, 2020 and has a margin of error of +4.38%.

The poll’s main takeaways are listed below.

Main Takeaways –

  • 56% of Louisianans, a majority of voters, said they would be less likely to vote for their Senator or member of Congress if they learned he/she was trying to slow down the Trump Administration’s efforts to quickly move ahead with its 5G wireless plan.
  • 78% of Louisiana voters say it is important for the US to win the 5G race against China.
  • Nearly 40% of Louisianans believe that getting access to high speed internet in rural parts of the state is a major problem.
  • 72% of Louisianans support a U.S. government mandate to remove Huawei technology equipment.
  • 71% of Louisianans say they are excited about 5G when told about its capabilities.
  • 82% of Louisianans say 5G will have a positive impact on the economy.

Key State Data –

  • 39% of Louisianans say that getting access to high speed internet in rural Louisiana is a major problem.
  • 61% of Louisianans use wireless technology every day and depend on it.
  • Just 40% of Louisianans say they are very satisfied with the speed, consistency and coverage of their current wireless technology.

Conclusion –

5G Action Now was founded to establish the United States as the worldwide leader in 5G. The group’s goal is to elevate the conversation regarding American national security and the economic benefits of winning the 5G innovation and deployment battle against China. This is the second survey conducted by 5G Action Now – the first was a national survey which found that 84% of Americans believe it is important for the U.S. to win the 5G race against China. The group will continue to do research and poll specific states and regions of the United States.

Mike Rogers is the former Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and now serves as the Chairman of 5G Action Now.

In Congress, Chairman Rogers worked with two presidents, Congressional leadership, foreign leaders, diplomats, and intelligence professionals, and oversaw the Intelligence Community’s $70 billion budget that funded the nation’s 17 intelligence agencies. Before being elected to represent Michigan in the House of Representatives, he was an FBI special agent and member of the U.S. Army.

Today, he hosts the CNN Original Series Declassified, regularly appears on various TV and radio shows, and frequently contributes to major print outlets. He is also a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center where he is leading a program on 5G, national security, and intelligence policy.
